2 Dreaded Maoists Nabbed From Nabarangpur

Nabarangpur: Two Maoists were apprehended by SOG and DVF soldiers in the Hatigaon forest, under the Raighar police limits on Tuesday in the Nabarangpur district of Odisha.

The Maoists were identified as Poje Mandavi alias Anita (25), a native of Chhattisgarh’s Sukma, and Samudra Bagh (32), a resident of the Nuapada of Odisha, according to DIG of Police (SWR) Koraput, Rajesh Pandit.

Both were members of Mainpur Nuapada Division of CPI (Maoists), he added.

According to the DIG, the pair was involved in numerous cases of violence in the neighbouring states of Chhattisgarh as well as Nabarangpur, Nuapada, and Kalahandi.

Anita reportedly joined the Maoist movement in 2010 and was previously working for the Bodchatia local organisation squad (LOS) as a party member before joining the Mainpur-Nuapada Division. Bal Sanghatan, led by Ungi, had an influence on her. She has been involved since 2013, and in 2020 she was promoted to an Area Committee Member (ACM).

In the same vein, Bagh joined the Maoists in 2017 and has been a militia member of the Mainpur-Nuapada Division ever since. He apparently gave the extremists information and other input. The rebels were also receiving medical care and other necessities from Bagh, according to the authorities.
