AI Microscope Installed for Accurate Malaria Diagnosis in Odisha’s Malkangiri Hospital

Malkangiri: A new AI-powered microscope has been introduced at the district headquarters hospital in Malkangiri, Odisha, on a pilot basis. The microscope is capable of diagnosing malaria with a high degree of accuracy, and can also differentiate between the two main types of malaria parasites, P. falciparum and P. vivax.

The introduction of this new technology is a significant step forward in the fight against malaria. Malaria is a major public health problem in Odisha, and the new microscope has the potential to improve the accuracy of diagnoses and ensure that patients receive the correct treatment.

The microscope was developed by a startup affiliated with the Indian Institute of Technology, Bombay. It uses artificial intelligence to analyze blood samples and identify malaria parasites. The microscope is also able to detect low levels of parasitemia, which is important for early diagnosis and treatment.

The pilot project in Malkangiri is the first step in the wider deployment of this new technology in Odisha. If successful, the microscope could be used to improve malaria diagnosis and treatment across the state.
