Balasore Ammonia Gas Leak Update: 28 workers Fall Ill

Ammonia gas from a Prawn processing plant in Odisha’s Balasore district escaped on Wednesday, infecting as many as 28 workers.

Balasore: Ammonia gas from a Prawn processing plant in Odisha’s Balasore district escaped on Wednesday, infecting as many as 28 workers.

28 people were saved and taken to Khantapada Hospital when police and a fire rescue squad hurried to the prawn plant known as Highland Agro Food Private Limited. According to a representative, 15 of them were sent to Balasore and other hospitals.

According to reports, the tragedy happened at around 7 o’clock in the village of Gadabahanaga in the Khantapada region of the district.

Pratap Sarangi, former union minister and MP of Balasore, met the workers at the hospital. Police in Balasore is looking into the situation.
