Drunk Driver Rams Coaching Centre Bus Into Divider; Students Escape Unhurt

Bhubaneswar: Around 26 students of a coaching centre had a narrow escape on Friday when the bus they were riding in was involved in an accident near Acharya Vihar Square in Bhubaneswar.

According to early reports, the bus’s driver lost control of the steering wheel, causing it to crash into the road median. The driver is said to have been drunk when the accident happened.

“We were aware of the driver’s inebriation. But we had no notion that something similar would occur. A student claimed that the bus first struck a traffic divider before striking a tree.

The vehicle struck twice while reversing inside the school’s grounds, according to another student. The driver was driving too quickly along the road. The bus ran into the barrier as it passed a car. There were between 21 and 22 pupils. We have already complained about the incident to the relevant coaching centre authorities.

Accidents can occur to everyone, a guardian stated. But if the driver was drunk, it is a serious offence. Good drivers should always be chosen by the management. What can we do if the driver commits such an offence?

Meanwhile, the coaching centre’s administrators are yet to issue an official statement on the matter.
