Heavy Rainfall Alert: 12 Districts in Odisha Brace for Intense Monsoon Deluge

Bhubaneswar: Heavy rainfall is expected to affect at least 12 districts in Odisha, India, over the next 24 hours due to the formation of a Low-Pressure Area and the active Southwest monsoon. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) regional centre has issued a Yellow Warning for the next two days.

Strong monsoon flow and the presence of a Low-Pressure Area in north Chhattisgarh and its surrounding areas will result in squally weather with gusty surface winds of 40 to 50 kmph along the Odisha Coast and Northwest Bay of Bengal.

As a precautionary measure, fishermen are advised to avoid venturing into the sea in these areas. The highest maximum temperature recorded in Odisha’s plains was 32.0°C at Chandbali and Chhatrapur, while the lowest minimum temperature was 19.2°C in Nabarangpur.

Tuesday:
– Yellow Warning: Heavy to Very Heavy rainfall is likely in one or two places in the districts of Bargarh and Jharsuguda. Heavy rainfall is expected in one or two places in the districts of Nuapada, Bolangir, Sambalpur, Sundargarh, Sonepur, Deogarh, Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, Angul, and Balasore.

Wednesday:
– Yellow Warning: Heavy rainfall is very likely in one or two places in the districts of Sundargarh, Jharsuguda, Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, and Balasore from 0830 Hrs IST on 28.06.2023 to 0830 Hrs IST on 29.06.2023.
