Fatehpur: The house of a man accused of raping and murdering a teenager was bulldozed off in Fatehpur, Uttar Pradesh on Tuesday. The demolition took place in the presence of police officials, following demands from the victim’s relatives, villagers, and members of the Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP), a Hindu organization.
The accused has been identified as Sikandar Khan. According to reports, Khan allegedly raped the girl and then brutally killed her by crushing her head with a brick.
The 17-year-old girl and her family attended a wedding in Fatehpur on June 22, but she went missing from the wedding hall around 11 pm, as reported by her father. After hours of searching, her father filed a missing complaint with the police. The following day, on June 23, the girl was found injured in an under-construction house near the wedding venue.
The victim, who was allegedly raped, was immediately admitted to a hospital, where she fought for her life for three days. Unfortunately, she succumbed to her injuries on Monday.
Following the girl’s death, her relatives and VHP members demanded the demolition of the Khan’s house. Responding to these demands, the police arrested one of the four individuals involved in the incident and proceeded to bulldoze the accused’s house.
Amid the incident, a VHP leader claimed that this was a case of “love jihad,” suggesting that the accused, who was a Muslim, had deceived the girl by pretending to be a Hindu and subsequently lured her into a meeting where he allegedly committed the crime.
