Jajpur ABEO, Junior Clerk Arrested On Bribery Charges

Jajpur: The Vigilance on Tuesday arrested two government officials for demanding and accepting bribes.

The accused persons have been identified as Assistant Block Education Officer of Badchana block, Amiya Kumar Dash, and Junior Clerk Sudhansu Sekhar Nayak.

Vigilance officials said that a school teacher was asked to pay the bribe for his arrear pay and other dues pending for a long.

Based on the above complaint, a trap was laid by Vigilance today. Both the accused were arrested while accepting the undue advantage (bribe) of Rs 30,000 from the complainant.

“The entire bribe money was recovered from the possession of Dash and seized in presence of witnesses. Both hand wash as well as pant pocket wash of Dash gave positive chemical reaction, confirming acceptance and handling of bribe money by him,” the Vigilance stated.

Following the trap, simultaneous searches were launched on the parental house of Dash at Kudei Sasan in Jajpur district, his residential flat No 4 at Shree Tower, BJB Nagar, Bhubaneswar as well as the residential house of Nayak at Surkhadeipur (Jajpur).

The duo were arrested and will be forwarded to the Court. In this connection, Cuttack Vigilance has registered a case under Section 7 of PC Amendment Act, 2018 and Section 34 of the IPC and investigating further.
