Jharkhand Tourist Swept Away by Strong Current, Drowns at Puri Beach

Puri: A 24-year-old tourist from Jharkhand drowned in Puri, Odisha today while bathing in the Bay of Bengal. The victim, identified as Vishal Oram, was an employee in the Jharkhand Chief Minister’s office.

Vishal was part of a group of 21 staff members from the Chief Minister’s office who had travelled to Puri for a pilgrimage. The group was staying at a hotel on Chakratirtha Road.

The incident occurred when Vishal and his colleagues decided to take a dip in the sea near Shankar International during the afternoon. Tragically, Vishal was caught in a strong current and swept away by the sea, leading to his drowning.

Lifeguards and the fire brigade responded to the distress call and launched a rescue operation. However, Vishal was found lifeless by the time he was rescued.

The Sea Beach police station has registered a case of unnatural death in connection with this tragic incident, and investigations are currently underway.
