Despite Restrictions, Illegal Firecrackers Worth Lakhs Seized In Odisha’s Kendrapada

Bhubaneswar: In a crackdown on illegal firecrackers ahead of Diwali, Odisha Police raided a residence in Kendrapada district and seized a large quantity of firecrackers worth lakhs of rupees.

The raid was conducted by a specialized team under the jurisdiction of Kendrapada town police station. A person associated with the illegal storage of firecrackers has been detained and is being interrogated by the police.

The Supreme Court’s recent directive against the sale of hazardous firecrackers containing barium and other chemicals adds significance to the ongoing investigation.

The Commissionerate Police Cuttack-Bhubaneswar has also set up a helpline for reporting illegal firecracker manufacturing. The public is urged to proactively share information regarding illicit firecracker production.
