Odisha: 50 Passengers Stranded in Mahanadi River After Boat Malfunction, Rescued Safely

Kendrapada: In a prompt and heroic response, locals averted a potential tragedy by rescuing approximately 50 stranded passengers from a boat in Odisha’s Kendrapada district. The incident on Tuesday unfolded when a technical glitch left the boat stranded in the Mahanadi River for three hours.

The passengers had embarked on their journey from the Bahakuda-Musadiha ferry ghat, with two boats departing in the morning en route to Paradip. Unfortunately, one of the vessels encountered an engine malfunction, leading to the distressing situation in the middle of the river.

Swift action was taken by local fishermen and others who successfully brought the troubled boat to the shore, ensuring the safety of all passengers. During the ordeal, passengers, along with their belongings, including motorcycles, scooters, bicycles, and other articles, faced a challenging three-hour delay.
