Odisha CM Announces 10% Reservation, Age Relaxation for Agniveers in Uniformed Services

Bhubaneswar: In a significant move to empower the state’s youth, Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi on Friday announced a 10% reservation for Agniveers in state-level uniformed services. The decision comes in recognition of the Agnipath scheme, a central government initiative to modernise the armed forces.

Majhi lauded the Agnipath scheme for transforming young Indians into capable and fearless individuals, equipped to tackle life’s challenges. He emphasized the state government’s commitment to providing opportunities for Agniveers who do not continue their service in the armed forces.

Furthermore, the Chief Minister announced a five-year age relaxation for Agniveers seeking employment in government services. He underscored the state’s pride in its soldiers and the value it places on the skills and discipline acquired by Agniveers during their tenure.

Odisha joins Uttar Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh, and Chhattisgarh in offering preferential treatment to Agniveers. The Agnipath scheme, which involves a four-year engagement period with 25% of recruits retained for regular service, aims to create a skilled and disciplined workforce for various sectors.
