Odisha Chef Hangs Self During Video Call with Girlfriend

Bhubaneswar: In a tragic incident in Odisha’s capital, a 22-year-old chef named Prabhupada Maharana from Bhadrak district has taken his own life by hanging in his rented accommodation. Prabhupada was employed at a luxury hotel in Chandrasekharpur, a neighbourhood in the city.

The unfortunate incident unfolded during a video call between Prabhupada and a girl believed to be his girlfriend. During the call, he threatened to end his life by hanging. The girl quickly disconnected the call and immediately informed the hotel manager.

Responding to the distress call, the hotel manager and a few others rushed to Prabhupada’s apartment. Unfortunately, his room was locked from the inside. They managed to open a window and discovered Prabhupada’s lifeless body hanging from the ceiling fan.

Understanding the gravity of the situation, the hotel manager promptly contacted the local authorities and informed Prabhupada’s family. The police arrived at the scene and initiated the necessary procedures, including sending the deceased chef’s body for a postmortem examination.
