Odisha Courts Shift to Morning Sittings Starting April 8 Due to Heatwave

Cuttack: In response to the scorching heatwave conditions in Odisha, courts across the state are adjusting their schedules. The Orissa High Court has issued a directive to all district and sessions judges, stating that morning sittings will be implemented from April 8 onwards.

According to a letter from Orissa High Court Registrar (in-charge) Akhil Kumar Paschimakabat, the morning sittings will begin on April 8 and will continue until the last working day of the summer vacation.

The schedule for morning sessions will vary slightly across different locations. In most places in Odisha, excluding Berhampur, Chhatrapur, Bhubaneswar, Koraput Sadar, and Puri Sadar, courts will convene from 7:00 am to 1:00 pm, with a half-hour recess from 10:00 am to 10:30 am.

For courts in Berhampur, Chhatrapur, Bhubaneswar, Koraput Sadar, and Puri Sadar, the morning sessions will run from 7:30 am to 12:30 pm, as outlined in the letter.
