Dengue Outbreak in Odisha: 3,293 Cases Reported; Sundargarh, Khurda Worst-Hit

Bhubaneswar: The rapid increase in dengue cases across Odisha has triggered significant concern, with the state reporting a total of 3,293 cases as of Thursday.

According to the state Health department, 77,267 samples were tested, revealing 3,293 dengue-positive cases. 186 new cases were confirmed on Wednesday alone.

Sundargarh district has reported the highest number of cases at 990, followed by Khurda with 778 cases. Other affected districts include Cuttack (19 cases), Balasore (159), Mayurbhanj (127), Bolangir (110) and Bhadrak (114).

A team from the Health department is currently in Rourkela, working to expedite patient treatment and control the spread of the disease. Most cases in Rourkela have been reported from areas under the jurisdiction of the Rourkela Steel Plant (RSP). Health department teams have already conducted visits to the affected regions.

Director of Public Health, Nilakantha Mishra stated that efforts are being intensified to contain the outbreak, with a central control room operating 24/7.
