Odisha Govt Earns Rs 55.14 Cr In Fines From Motor Vehicle Rule Violators

Bhubaneswar: The Odisha government in 2021-22 has collected Rs 55.14 crore as fines from violators of motor vehicle rules including for not wearing helmets.

In a written reply to a question by BJP lawmaker from Umerkote Nityananda Gond in the Odisha Assembly, Commerce and Transport Minister Tukuni Sahu informed that total revenue of Rs 1483.79 crore has been collected in the State in the year 2021-22 against road tax, and other fees and charges.

Out of the Rs 1483.79 crore total revenue earned in 2021-22, Rs 55.14 crore was earned as fines from motor vehicle rule violators which includes fines collected from bikers for not wearing a helmet while driving a motorcycle, the Minister added.
