Odisha Introduces New “Aspirational Component” In Class 9 & 10 Course Curriculum

Bhubaneswar: The School and Mass Education Ministry of the Odisha government had directed the Board of Secondary Education (BSE), Odisha to include an aspirational component in the school course curriculum.

Accordingly, BSE has created a framework to introduce the same.

Whereas the new subjects will be added to the course for 9th-class students during the current session, they will be implemented for class 10 from the next academic session, the BSE stated.

This aspirational component has four groups: Book Review, Project Work, Co-curricular Activities, and Basic IT Skills, BSE President Ramashis Hazra stated today.

According to a BSE official, the subjects introduced in the said ‘aspirational component’ are going to be compulsory for the students. Each of the subjects will carry 25 marks, and the subjects will witness a four-phase examination system. The first three assessments will carry 15 marks i.e- 5 marks for each assessment and the final assessment will carry 10 marks.
