OTET Candidates Now Can’t Appear For Exams In Their Own Districts

Cuttack: In a bid to check malpractice and unethical practices, the Board of Secondary Education (BSE) on Monday notified that the Odisha Teacher Eligibility Test (OTET) candidates will have to appear for examinations in centers out of their districts.

According to the new system, candidates can neither appear for examination in the district of their permanent address nor in the district of their correspondent address.

The board will decide on the examination center of the candidates and centers will be held in only district headquarters.

Recently, scores of teachers were caught cheating during OTET in Malkangiri district following which a special examination was held.

To avoid such type of unethical practices at OTET centers, the board has taken the decision. Besides, the examination centers will be held in government schools, colleges, and private institutes having the proper infrastructure in the district headquarters town, said a BSE official.

The Board issued notice on October 7 for conducting this year’s OTET. The last date for submitting an online application is October 19. The Board will decide on center selection and examination date.
