Odisha Implements Online Mode for Spot Admissions in Plus-2 Courses

Bhubaneswar: The Odisha government has issued a directive to conduct spot admissions for Plus-2 courses in the state through an online mode. In line with this directive from the Higher Secondary Education Directorate, the SAMS (e-Admission) application for the academic session 2023-24 has undergone certain changes.

To streamline the admission process, the department has proposed the introduction of online spot selection instead of the traditional physical mode registration. Information regarding online spot selection will be communicated to candidates through WhatsApp or SMS.

Additionally, candidates who have not opted for e-Admission in Plus-2, ITI, or Diploma courses will be identified and sent SMS notifications to raise awareness.

As per the notification, it is crucial for the candidate’s 10th pass Board Name, Year of Passing, Roll Number, and Exam type (Regular/Supplementary) to match the data in the SAMS database. If any discrepancies are found, the candidate will not be able to fill out or submit the Common Application Form (CAF). However, the system will allow applicants to update any discrepancies related to their marks.

The recently announced results of this year’s matric exams revealed an impressive overall pass percentage of 96.40%, compared to 90.55% last year. Among the students, the pass percentage for girls stood at 97.05%, while it was 95.75% for boys. Notably, 4,158 students achieved A1 grades, 29,838 students received A2 grades, 77,567 students were accorded B1 grades, and 118,750 students attained B2 grades.

Furthermore, a significant number of students, comprising 1,904 boys and 2,254 girls, scored 90% and above. In terms of success rates, SC girls once again outperformed SC boys, achieving a pass percentage of 95.08% compared to 93.36%.

The introduction of online spot admissions for Plus-2 courses in Odisha will not only streamline the admission process but also provide convenience to candidates.

By leveraging technology through platforms like WhatsApp and SMS, the government aims to ensure effective communication and awareness among students regarding the changes in the admission process.

With the impressive pass percentage in this year’s matric exams, the state is paving the way for a bright future for its students.
