Odisha Vigilance Uncovers Massive Asset Hoard: OBCC Add’l Chief Engineer Linked to 42 Plots, High-Value Properties

Bhubaneswar: In a significant crackdown on corruption, Odisha Vigilance Department has uncovered extensive assets linked to Pradeep Rath, the Additional Chief Engineer at the Odisha Bridge and Construction Corporation (OBCC) in the R & B Cuttack circle.

Recent raids have revealed 42 plots, two multi-storey buildings, high-value flats in Bhubaneswar, a medicine store, a crusher unit, and heavy machinery including two JCBs and an excavator.

The properties, spread across upscale areas in Bhubaneswar, Khordha, Cuttack, Dhenkanal, Bhadrak, and Jajpur districts, are currently under investigation.

Notably, 32 of these plots are located in Jajpur district, registered in Rath’s name and those of his family members. The official value of these assets exceeds Rs 1.5 crore, though the actual worth is suspected to be higher.

Vigilance officials have also identified fixed deposits and post office savings estimated at approximately Rs 88 lakh. The investigation is ongoing as authorities assess the extent of Rath’s financial holdings and assets.
