Plus 2 Pass ‘Fake’ Doctor Detained From Rourkela Govt Hospital

Rourkela: A man posing as a doctor at Rourkela Government Hospital was detained by Raghunathpalli police on Thursday. The accused, Padmanabhan Mukhi, was identified as a Plus II pass with a history of impersonating a medical professional.

This isn’t Mukhi’s first brush with the law. In 2019, he faced similar charges for practising medicine without qualifications in Nua Gaon block. Despite serving jail time, Mukhi allegedly resumed his fraudulent activities upon release.

According to police sources, Mukhi secured employment at Rourkela Government Hospital by forging documents of a Jharkhand-based doctor, Ramesh Chandra Jha. The deception came to light during a loan application process, leading to his detention and interrogation.

Dr. Ganesh Prasad Das, Superintendent of Rourkela Government Hospital, stated that Mukhi was hired through an outsourcing agency. “We’ve issued a show-cause notice to the agency, demanding an explanation for their failure to verify his credentials,” Dr Das said.

This incident raises serious questions about hiring practices and patient safety in healthcare institutions.
