Rath Yatra: Sand Artist Sudarshan Patnaik Crafts Magnificent Sculpture Using 250 Coconuts

Puri: On the occasion of Rath yatra 2023, Sand artist Sudarshan Patnaik has created an extraordinary sculpture on the occasion of Jagannath Rath Yatra at Puri Beach.

The sand art shows the chariots of the Trinity. Three chariots, known as raths, are made with sand. The chariot of Lord Jagannath, called Nandighosa, the chariot of Balabhadra, called Taladhwaja and the chariot of Subhadra, known as Darpadalana. Below the chariots, the faces of Lord Jagannath, Lord Balabhadra and Devi Subhadra are made with coconuts.

Rath Yatra of Jagannathji will start on 20th June 2023 at 10.04 am on the second tithi of Shukla Paksha of Ashad month and the yatra will end on 21st June 2023 at 07.09 mins. After visiting the city, on this day Lord Jagannath Ji, Balaram Ji and Subhadra Devi will rest at Gudicha Temple at their maternal aunt’s house.
