Babar Azam Will Become Pakistan’s PM If He Wins The WC, Quips Gavaskar

Ahead of Pakistan and England championship clash, taking a dig at the comparisons being drawn by the Pakistan fans between the 1992 World Cup and the 2022 T20 World Cup, Indian legend Sunil Gavaskar made a hilarious remark on skipper Babar Azam. Gavaskar quirkily remarked that Babar would end up becoming the Prime Minister of Pakistan if he wins the World Cup for Pakistan.

“If Pakistan do win the World Cup, in 2048 Babar Azam will be the Prime Minister of Pakistan,” Gavaskar said in an interview.

Evidently, the comments made by Gavaskar were in relation to Imran Khan, who was Pakistan’s captain in the 1992 World Cup and later on joined politics to become the Prime Minister of his country. Gavaskar jokingly suggested that if Babar could replicate Imran’s World Cup-winning feat, then he might as well end up becoming the PM in the future.

Pakistan are all set to take on the mighty England team in the final of the ICC T20 World Cup 2022. The Men in Green defeated New Zealand in their semi-final clash of the marquee event at the Sydney Cricket Ground (SCG) on November 9.

Pakistan are on the verge of replicating their historic 1992 World Cup triumph when the then skipper Imran Khan won the World Cup from the jaws of defeat.
