Dhaka: After Bangladesh lost six wickets on Day 4 of the first Test at Chattogram, India are on the brink of a big victory.
The side, which is chasing 513 runs against India will be needing 241 more to win on the final day on Sunday.
Debutant Zakir Hasan scored a century on debut, while Shakib Al Hasan kept the hosts in the hunt after his wicket.
Starting the day on 41/0, Bangladesh openers Najmul Shanto and Zakir Hasan continued to counter the Indian bowling attack at Chattogram.
The two openers struck a well-paced 100-run partnership to bring Bangladesh close to the huge 513-run target set by India.
Meanwhile, left-arm spinner Axar Patel was the pick of the bowlers for the visitors, registering figures of 27-10-50-3. Umesh Yadav, Ravichandran Ashwin, and Kuldeep Yadav picked up a wicket each.
This all happened after the hosts got off to a solid start in their chase.
India had declared their second innings at 258 for 2 with Shubman Gill and Cheteshwar Pujara scoring centuries.
