At the Barsapara Cricket Stadium in Assam, the groundsmen were observed rushing onto the field with snake-snatching tools after the reptile was spotted by the umpires and a few players on the field.

After the incident, there was a brief stop in play as the snake was caught and lifted off the ground, ensuring the safety of all the players.

KL Rahul and Rohit Sharma, the Indian openers as well as the South African players were surprised to see a snake amidst them. The Proteas’ wicket-keeper Quinton De Kock was seen smirking.

The incident happened as the eighth over of the Indian batting innings was about to begin.
