Inzamam-ul-Haq Slams PCB for Inconsistency, Demands Respect for Former Players

Islamabad: Legendary Pakistan batsman Inzamam-ul-Haq has launched a scathing attack on the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) for its handling of recent team performances and its treatment of former players. Inzamam criticized the PCB’s decision to remove Muhammed Hafeez as Team Director following a string of losses while retaining chief selector Wahab Riaz.

“Why is only Hafeez being held accountable?” Inzamam questioned on a TV show, highlighting the seemingly inconsistent decision-making. Both Hafeez and Riaz were appointed around the same time and tasked with similar responsibilities.

Inzamam’s criticism extended beyond the recent team director change. He called for the PCB to show more respect towards former captains and cricket stalwarts, including himself. Recounting a personal experience with a former PCB chairman, Inzamam alleged a lack of respect during a conflict of interest dispute.

“The PCB needs to take responsibility for their actions,” Inzamam asserted. He further revealed his initial reluctance to accept the chief selector position before the Asia Cup 2023, as the previous committee had already chosen the squad.
