Roseau: Yashasvi Jaiswal made a stunning Test debut, scoring 143 not out to help India take a commanding lead against West Indies on Day 2 of the first Test.
Jaiswal and captain Rohit Sharma put on a record opening stand of 229 for India, the highest by any Indian pair in Tests outside Asia. The partnership helped India take a lead of 162 runs after dismissing West Indies for 150 on Day 1.
Jaiswal’s knock was a masterclass in patience and timing. He faced 350 balls, the most by an Indian in an innings on Test debut, and hit 18 fours and a six. He also became the 17th Indian to score a century on Test debut, and the third opener to do so.
