Pakistan Cricket Board Embraces AI to Revamp Team, Address Performance Issues

Karachi: In a bid to revitalise Pakistan’s struggling cricket team, the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has taken an interesting approach to talent identification. The board has decided to use artificial intelligence (AI) to select players for the national squad.

PCB chairman Mohsin Naqvi announced the innovative strategy at a recent press conference, acknowledging the team’s disappointing performances, particularly the recent loss to Bangladesh. He stressed the need for a complete overhaul of the selection process and highlighted the lack of reliable data on domestic players.

“Our selection system was a complete mess,” Naqvi stated. “We had no solid data or player pool to draw from. The Champions Cup will provide us with the necessary records and a pool of 150 potential players.”

To ensure transparency and objectivity in the selection process, the PCB is utilising AI to evaluate 80% of the potential players. Human intervention will be limited to 20%, ensuring that selections are based on data-driven insights rather than personal opinions or biases.

“Anyone who isn’t performing will be immediately replaced,” Naqvi declared. “It shouldn’t come down to anyone’s individual opinions or wishes.”
