Islamabad: Pakistan’s controversial left-arm pacer, Mohammad Amir, has made a surprising decision to come out of retirement and make himself available for selection for the upcoming T20 World Cup in the Americas in June this year. This comes after Amir retired from all forms of international cricket in 2021, but continued to participate in various T20 leagues globally.
Amir, known for his turbulent past including a ban from cricket for five years on spot-fixing charges, expressed his desire to represent Pakistan once again. He cited positive discussions with the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) as a motivating factor in his decision. The new PCB regime under chairman Mohsin Naqvi played a pivotal role in convincing Amir to reconsider his retirement.

In his declaration, Amir emphasized his commitment to prioritizing the national team over personal decisions. He expressed gratitude for the opportunity to don the green jersey once again and serve his country, affirming that representing Pakistan remains his greatest aspiration.
Amir boasts an impressive international record with 36 Tests, 61 ODIs, and 50 T20Is under his belt, accumulating a total of 259 wickets across formats.
