Ranchi: After a tight finish to the first ODI in Greenfield International Stadium, Thiruvananthapuram, team India will be looking to avenge the loss by clinching a convincing victory in the second ODI in Ranchi.

According to weather forecasts, the game day will experience thunderstorms between 11 AM and 2 PM with clouds covering the whole game. However, the temperature at the toss is expected to be 29 degrees Celcius and may drop down to around 23 degrees by the end of the game.

The South African team brought out their A game in the first game. Heinrich Klassen and David Miller starred for South Africa as they posted 249 in a rain-reduced 40 overs-a-side game.

Chasing 250, the Indian inning never really took off with India receiving two heavy blows at the top. Sanju Samson stitched vital partnerships with Shreyas Iyer and Shardul Thakur and took the game to the wire. The wicketkeeper did try his best but India ultimately fell 9 runs short.

Meanwhile, team India will be without the services of Deepak Chahar, who has been ruled out of the series due to a stiff back. Washington Sundar has been announced as his replacement.
