Ronaldo Indulgues In Verbal Duel After South-Korean Player’s “Insulting” Remark

Controversy meter is also on the rise while FIFA World Cup fever continues to engulf the world.  Cristiano Ronaldo allegedly got into a heated altercation with a South Korean player while he was being replaced during the game on Friday, sparking a new controversy. Portugal advanced to the round of 16, despite suffering a 2-1 loss against South Korea.

After the game, Cristiano Ronaldo spoke with the media and said, ” It happened when I was substituted. A Korean player was telling me to go off the field quickly and I asked him to stay quiet because it was not his authority to say anything to me.”

“If there was a problem with me going slowly off the field, it was the referees’ job to notify me, not the player’s,” he added.

Cristiano Ronaldo was visibly “mad when the incident happened and everyone noticed that,” according to Portugal coach Fernando Santos.

Hwang In-beom, the Korean player at issue, attempted to downplay the incident by claiming he was unaware of it.

Portugal and South Korea, both from Group H, made it to the FIFA World Cup 2022’s Super 16.
