Fractured Finger Sidelines Shakib Al Hasan from Bangladesh’s Final World Cup Game

Bangladesh Cricket Captain Shakib Al Hasan will be sidelined for the team’s final World Cup match against Australia due to a finger fracture sustained during their victory over Sri Lanka, as announced by the Bangladesh Cricket Board.

Shakib’s outstanding performance in the game included scoring 82 runs and taking two wickets, earning him the player-of-the-match title. Despite being struck on his left index finger early in his innings, Shakib continued to bat with the help of supportive taping and painkillers. An emergency X-ray in Delhi post-match confirmed a fracture in the left PIP joint, with an estimated recovery time of three to four weeks.

Notably, Shakib also played a role in the controversial time-out dismissal of Sri Lankan batter Angelo Mathews, who accused him of being a “cheat” on social media. Shakib defended his decision, asserting that it was in compliance with the game’s rules.

Unfortunately, Bangladesh, having secured only two wins in eight matches, will not advance to the semi-finals of the World Cup. Their last group match against Australia is scheduled for Saturday.
