Tamim Iqbal Backtracks on Retirement After Intervention from Bangladesh PM: Reports

Dhaka: Bangladesh cricket fans were taken by surprise when Tamim Iqbal announced his retirement from international cricket after the first ODI against Afghanistan. However, it seems that there has been a change of heart for the veteran left-hander. According to ESPNCricinfo, Tamim had a conversation with Bangladesh Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, which led to his decision to reverse his retirement.

During the emotional press conference in Chittagong, Tamim expressed his gratitude and stated that he believed it was the right time for him to retire. However, criticism from Bangladesh Cricket Board President Nazmul Hassan regarding his professionalism in playing despite not being fully fit played a role in his retirement decision.

In light of Tamim’s retirement, Litton Das has been appointed as the captain for the remaining ODI series. Litton expressed the team’s focus on the future and their determination to level the series on the upcoming Saturday match.

While acknowledging Tamim’s absence, Litton emphasized the inevitability of change in cricket and the continuous arrival of newcomers. He urged the team to not dwell on the topic and instead concentrate on moving forward.

With Tamim’s reversal of retirement, Bangladesh cricket enthusiasts can now anticipate his continued contributions to the national team.
