Women’s Asia Cup 2022: Pak Beat Ind In An Int’l Tie After More Than 6 Years

Sylhet: Ending the Blue Brigade’s six-plus years winning streak against them in international cricket, Pakistan triumphed over their arch-rivals India, after successfully defending 137 runs, in the Women’s Asia Cup.

Pakistan showed great spirit in rising back after a humiliating loss against Thailand, a non-test-playing nation on Thursday.

Initially in the match, Pakistani seasoned-campaigner Nida Dar starred with the bat registering Pakistan’s highest T20I score against India (56* off 37).

However, India could not stand against the Pakistani bowling lineup as a result of some bizarre tactics employed by the team.

It was shocking to see Indian skipper Harmanpreet Kaur coming into bat at no. 7, the decision, however, went wrong and resulted in India’s defeat.

“In the middle, we were trying to give the chance to other batters, because you have to do that as the tournament goes on, but it backfired. It was a chaseable target,” Harmanpreet said while defending the decision.

“We are aware of that and never take any team lightly. It is a part of the game. Yesterday, Thailand played a good game. Today, they (Pakistan) played good cricket,” she added.

The Indian batting order collapsed owing to some disciplined bowling by the Pakistani bowlers, particularly, Nashra Sandhu.

However, it was a commendable effort by Richa Ghosh who struck a fighting 13-ball 26 runs, including 3 sixes, towards the fag end of the innings but in vain, as Pakistan defeated India by 13 runs.
