Yashasvi Jaiswal Surpasses Gill, Shaw & Samson To Create IPL Record

Yashasvi Jaiswal has been one of the top players for the Rajasthan Royals in the ongoing season of the Indian Premier League (IPL).

The young batter achieved a monumental milestone on Sunday. The left-handed opener is now the second-youngest player to reach the milestone of 1000 runs in the league. Yashasvi needed 34 innings to attain the milestone after making his Royals debut in 2020. He is the second-youngest player to score over 1000 runs in the competition, just behind Rishabh Pant. While Pant had done so at the age of 20, Jaiswal did so at the age of 21 and 130 days.

With 477 runs scored in his first 11 matches, Jaiswal has been one of the tournament’s most reliable batters in 2023. He is now the second-highest run scorer in the competition, just behind Royal Challengers Bangalore skipper Faf du Plessis (511).

Jaiswal became the second-youngest person to accomplish the feat, surpassing a number of IPL stars including Prithvi Shaw, Shubman Gill, and Sanju Samson. According to age, the following batters broke the four-figure barrier the fastest:

  1. Rishabh Pant – 20 years, 218 days
  2. Yashasvi Jaiswal – 21 years, 130 days
  3. Prithvi Shaw – 21 years, 169 days
  4. Sanju Samson – 21 years, 183 days
  5. Shubman Gill – 21 years, 222 days
