IPL 2024: Mumbai Indians’ Suryakumar Yadav Set To Miss Few More Games

Mumbai: Mumbai Indians’ star batsman, Suryakumar Yadav, is set to miss a few more IPL matches as he continues his rehabilitation following a sports hernia surgery. The National Cricket Academy (NCA) is closely monitoring his recovery progress, ensuring his return to action with the team.

Yadav’s absence has been felt keenly by Mumbai Indians, who suffered losses in their initial two matches without him. A source from the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) affirmed Yadav’s positive progress, indicating his imminent return to the MI lineup. However, the 33-year-old may need to sit out a few more games as a precautionary measure.

While Yadav’s absence is a setback for Mumbai Indians, the BCCI is prioritizing his long-term fitness, particularly with the impending T20 World Cup in the USA and the West Indies scheduled for June. With Yadav expected to play a pivotal role in the tournament, ensuring his full recovery is paramount.

A BCCI insider emphasized Yadav’s importance, likening him to the legendary AB de Villiers for his versatile batting style and impressive strike rate of 171.55 in T20 cricket. With 60 T20 Internationals under his belt, Yadav boasts 2141 runs, including four centuries, making him a valuable asset for the Indian team.

Mumbai Indians will face Rajasthan Royals in their third IPL encounter, marking their first home game at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai, scheduled for Monday.
