Lightning Strike Damages Goa Airport Runway Lights, 6 Flights Diverted

Goa: A Lightning strike damaged the runway edge lights at the Manohar International Airport (MIA) in Goa. Because of it six flights had to be diverted.

Lightning struck the airport at Mopa in North Goa, at around 5.15 pm on Wednesday, said a MIA spokesperson in a statement.

“MIA took NOTAM (Notice to Airmen) up to 8 pm by which time the damaged lights were rectified to bring the airport operations to normalcy,” the statement added.

During NOTAM, six flights were diverted to nearby destinations.
