Amitabh Bachchan Receives Lata Deenanath Mangeshkar Award 2024

Mumbai: Veteran Bollywood actor Amitabh Bachchan was honoured with the Lata Deenanath Mangeshkar Award on Wednesday.

Instituted in memory of the late legendary singer Lata Mangeshkar, the award commemorates her remarkable legacy.

Bachchan, 81, received the award on April 24, coinciding with the memorial day of Deenanath Mangeshkar, a revered figure in theatre and music and the father of the Mangeshkar siblings.

The award was presented to Bachchan by Usha Mangeshkar, the third eldest sibling among the Mangeshkars.

Unfortunately, veteran singer Asha Bhosle, the second sibling, was unable to attend due to illness.

The Lata Deenanath Mangeshkar Puraskar, as it is known, recognizes individuals who have made significant contributions to the nation and society. Prime Minister Narendra Modi was the first recipient in 2022, followed by Asha Bhosle in 2023.

The ceremony was presided over by music composer Hridaynath Mangeshkar, the youngest among the Mangeshkar siblings.
