Sisodia Seeks Interim Bail to Campaign For Upcoming Elections

New Delhi: Jailed Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leader and former Delhi Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia moved Delhi’s Rouse Avenue court on Friday seeking interim bail to campaign for the upcoming polls.

He was arrested in February 2023 in the Delhi liquor policy case.

The lawyers representing the Enforcement Directorate (ED) and the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) sought time to reply to Sisodia’s plea.

The court granted time to the ED and the CBI to reply to the plea. The next date for hearing of the petition is on April 20.  at 10 am.

Although Sisodia’s counsel insisted on an earlier date, saying that elections are beginning from April 19, the special CBI Judge Kaveri Baweja did not agree to it.

The Supreme Court had denied him bail in October 2023. The apex court allowed Sisodia to move for bail again within three months if the trial proceeds slowly.

Sisodia recently moved the trial court for bail again.
