Imphal: Union Home Minister Amit Shah chaired a review meeting with senior officials from the Manipur Police, Central Armed Police Forces (CAPFs), and Indian Army in Imphal, Manipur today.
During the meeting, Shah emphasized the need to handle any activities that disrupt peace in the state. The government’s primary focus in Manipur is to promote peace and prosperity, he asserted. Additionally, measures were discussed to ensure an adequate supply of essential items, such as petrol, LPG gas, rice, and other food products, in order to stabilize prices.

As part of his efforts to restore peace in the ethnically conflicted state, Shah visited Churachandpur, an area that witnessed severe rioting. There, he engaged in talks with Kuki civil society leaders, church representatives, and intellectuals to comprehend their concerns and seek ways to establish peace. Accompanied by the IB chief and home secretary, Shah arrived in Churachandpur via helicopter.
In response to the recent ethnic conflict in Manipur, the government announced a compensation of Rs 10 lakh for the deceased individuals. Additionally, a job will be provided to a family member of those who lost their lives in the violence. The compensation will be divided equally between the central government and the state government.
Over the course of nearly a month, Manipur has been plagued by ethnic conflicts, resulting in numerous clashes and casualties. Following a period of relative calm, clashes and firing between militants and security forces intensified, raising the death toll to 80.
