New Delhi: A special court in Uttar Pradesh on Tuesday sentenced Vikram Saini, BJP MLA for Khatuali, and 11 others to two-year imprisonment for rioting and arson in a case linked to the 2013 Muzaffarnagar riots.

The MLA, however, received bail soon after the judgement was passed.

Among the 28 accused, one died a few years ago and 15 were acquitted for lack of evidence. At least 62 people were killed and 50,000 displaced in the Muzaffarnagar riots.
