15 Sentenced to Death for Murder of BJP Leader in Kerala

Thiruvananthapuram: Mavelikkara Additional District judge V G Sreedevi on Tuesday pronounced death sentences to 15 persons associated with the now-banned Islamist outfit Popular Front of India (PFI) in connection with the murder of BJP leader Ranjith Sreenivasan in Mavelikkara district in December 2021.

The prosecution pleaded for the maximum sentence for the convicts, claiming that they were a “trained killer squad” and the victim was killed in a gruesome manner in front of his mother, infant, and wife making it a “rarest of the rarest” of crimes.
