2 Dead, 8 Injured as Truck Hits Puri-Bound Autorickshaw in Jajpur Dist

Jajpur: A woman and a child died, while eight others were injured when the auto-rickshaw in which they travelling was hit by a speeding truck on the NH 16 in Panikoili in Odisha’s Jajpur district in the early hours of Tuesday.

As per the injured driver of the ill-fated three-wheeler, Lalit Kumar Naik, he was transporting 10 persons of three families from Sahapada village in Bhadrak district to Puri.

The deceased were Puja Sahu (20) from Simulia in Balasore district and Shivendra Mahapatra (11) from Bisam in Cuttack.

The injured were admitted to the Jajpur District Headquarters Hospital (DHH). Two of them were shifted to the SCB Medical College and Hospital in Cuttack as their condition deteriorated.

The police recovered the two dead bodies and sent them for post-mortem at the Jajpur DHH.
