2 Killed, 15 Injured as Pickup Van With Danda Nata Performers Overturns in Ganjam Dist

Berhampur: Two persons died and 15 others were injured when a pickup van carrying Danda Nata performers overturned in the Hinjili area in Odisha’s Ganjam district in the wee hours of Saturday.

The deceased were identified as Sanyasi Nayak of Kaliaguada village and Deepak Nayak of Tamanada.

According to reports, two pickup vans were transporting 22 ‘danduas’ (Danda Nata performers) from Berhampur to to Khetri Berhampur, when one of them overturned as its driver lost control over the vehicle near Saru village under Hinjili police station limits.

The two deceased died on the spot. Out of the 15 injured, seven were critical. All the victims were initially admitted to the Hinjilicut Sub-Divisional Hospital for treatment. Later the serious ones were shifted to the MKCG Medical College and Hospital in Berhampur.
