54 Dead in Fire Accident in 9-Storey Apartment in Vietnam

At least 54 people died in a fire accident that occurred at a nine-storey apartment building in Vietnam’s capital Hanoi on Tuesday night, reported the New York Times.

The fire broke out at 11.30 pm (local time). Several people died and were injured as most of them were sleeping at that time. The cause of the fire has not been ascertained.

This apartment housing 45 families was in a narrow alley. So, firefighters struggled to reach the apartment complex. The fire trucks had to be parked 300 to 400 metres away from the building.

Vietnam’s Dan Tri newspaper reported on Wednesday morning that the 54 people who had been hospitalised following the fire had died.

The fire was doused and rescue operations were on.
