Five of a Family Burnt Alive in Major Fire Triggered by Firecrackers in Nagaland

Dimapur: At least five persons of a family were burnt alive when fire engulfed a colony at Ward No. 10 Naharbari area of Dimapur in Naganald on Sunday night at around 10.40 pm.

The victims were suspected to be asleep at the time of the mishap.

At least 50 thatched houses belonging to non-Nagas in the area were reduced to ashes. According to sources, the fire accident was suspected to have been started by firecrackers or diyas lighted on the occasion of Diwali.

Around four LPG cylinders also exploded during the incident.

Around 50 families have been affected due to the fire.
