7 Corruption Cases Against Him, Hiding Ex-BDO Arrested After 8 Yrs from Delhi

Bhubaneswar: A former Block Development Officer (BDO), Ramesh Chandra Sahoo, who was absconding for the past eight years following corruption charges levied against him, was arrested by officials of the Odisha vigilance department from Delhi on Monday.

Sahoo was the BDO of Narayanpatna in Odisha’s Koraput district. Seven corruption cases are pending against him.

He is to be produced in a Delhi court and will be brought back to Odisha on transit remand, the state vigilance department said in a release.

According to reports, Sahoo kept changing his residence to evade arrest. He used to live in rented accommodations in Delhi and neighbouring areas. He had also hidden in Jorhat in Assam for some time.

Recently, he returned to Delhi from Assam. Based on inputs, a vigilance team was stationed to pinpoint his location, after which he was nabbed.
