17 Bodies Recovered from Shiv Mandir Landslide Debris in Shimla

Shimla: As many as 17 bodies were recovered from the landslide debris of a Shiv Mandir in the Summer Hill area of the rain-battered Shimla district of Himachal Pradesh.

This temple was devastated by the landslide. According to official sources, a search is still on to recover the bodies of two more missing persons from the debris. The rescue operation is going on in the Shiv Mandir.

Efforts are on to restart the movement of heavy vehicles carrying apples from Kullu will in the next 2-3 days.

Incessant rain has led to landslides, cloudbust, and flash floods, causing significant damage in Himachal Pradesh a total monetary loss of Rs 8014.61 crore since June 24.

A total of 2,022 houses were fully damaged, and 9,615 houses have been partially damaged. At least 113 landslides occurred in this year’s monsoon season. A total of 224 lost lives in the monsoon fury, according to a Himachal government bulletin.
