Six Disqualified Himachal Pradesh Congress MLAs Join BJP

New Delhi: Six former Himachal Pradesh MLAs who were disqualified as Congress legislators joined the BJP on Saturday.

According to The Tribune, Ex-minister Sudhir Sharma, Rajinder Rana, Ravi Thakur, Inderdutt Lakhanpal, Devendra Bhutto and Chaitanya Sharma joined the BJP in the presence of former Himachal CM Jairam Thakur, union minister Anurag Thakur, state Himachal chief Rajiv Bindal and national BJP general secretary Arun Singh.

These rebel Congress MLAs were disqualified on February 29 for defying a party whip to be present in the House and vote in favour of the Himachal Pradesh government during a cut motion and budget.

The Election Commission has announced bypolls for their constituencies.

The three Independents – Ashish Sharma (Hamirpur constituency), Hoshiyar Singh (Dehra) and KL Thakur (Nalagarh), had submitted their resignation to Assembly Secretary Yash Paul Sharma on Friday, and said they would join the BJP.
