80-Yr-Old Woman Falls Into 20ft Borewell in Subarnapur Dist, Rescue Operation On

Sonepur: On Monday evening, an 80-year-old woman fell into a 20-foot-deep abandoned borewell near Kainphula village under the Sadar block of Odisha’s Subarnapur district.

The Fire Services have started the rescue operation. The Special Relief Commissioner, Odisha directed an ODRAF team to participate in the rescue operation. Personnel of the NDRF 3rd Battalion Munduli team, which has expertise in such rescue operation, has been dispatched for the rescue, said official sources.

The victim has been identified as Dukhi Negi (80).

The victim stranded inside the 20-feet deep hole is being supplied oxygen through the opening of the borewell. With an excavator, the parallel hole is being dug up at a distance of around 10-feet to take out the stranded elderly woman.

The opening of the borewell is too narrow for any rescuer to enter it. So, the parallel hole is being dug.
