American Woman Staying in Ashram Gangraped in Kerala, 2 Arrested

New Delhi: A 44-year-old American woman on a visit to an ashram near Kollam in Kerala was allegedly gangraped by two men.

The accused men were arrested on Tuesday and were booked under 376D (gangrape) and 376(2)(n) (repeatedly raping same woman) of the IPC.

The victim arrived in Kerala on July 22. The gangrape incident occurred on July 31. The victim lodged the complaint on August 1 night.  According to the woman’s complaint, the men came up to her while she was sitting at the beach near the ashram and offered to share cigarettes. When she refused, she was offered liquor.

When she became intoxicated, these two men took her between them on a bike to a house nearby, where they raped her repeatedly.
